Nottinghamshire Outlaws v Derbyshire Falcons: Friends Life t20 preview

DerbyshirevNottsDerbyshire Head Coach Karl Krikken has named an unchanged 15-man squad for the Friends Life t20 fixture versus Nottinghamshire on Tuesday, 6.30pm start at Trent Bridge.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul misses out again for the Falcons with a hamstring injury while the fitness of Albie Morkel, who left the field during Sunday’s four-wicket defeat to the Durham Dynamos with a groin injury, is being monitored ahead of the fixture.

The Derbyshire squad is as follows:

Wayne Madsen, Chesney Hughes, Wes Durston, Dan Redfern, Billy Godleman, Albie Morkel, Alex Hughes,  Richard Johnson, Peter Burgoyne, Tom Poynton, David Wainwright, Tim Groenewald, Mark Turner, Tom Knight and Mark Footitt.

The Nottinghamshire line-up, meanwhile, is likely to feature full internationals in the shape of David Hussey, Samit Patel, Michael Lumb, Alex Hales, James Taylor, Chris Read, Ian Buttler and Ajmal Shahzad.

The previous Twenty20 meeting between the two sides ended in a six-wicket win for the Outlaws after Derbyshire posted just 115-9 from their 20 overs in-front of a sellout crowd at the County Ground a little under three weeks ago.

That victory was one of four on the bounce for the men from Trent Bridge as David Hussey’s side made a flying start to the competition.

And although defeats to Leicestershire and Durham followed, the Outlaws returned to winning ways – and to the top of the North Section table - with victory over Yorkshire on Sunday.

Captain Hussey starred with 52 from 42 balls as the Outlaws posted 155 for 8 from their 20 overs at Headingley Carnegie.

Patel (2 for 19) and Graeme White (2 for 18) then put Yorkshire’s reply in a spin as the home side fell 23 runs short of the victory target.

Derbyshire currently sit four points behind their East Midlands rivals in fourth position in the northern section table, with three wins and four losses, as the race for quarter-final places continues.

For supporters making the short trip down Brian Clough way, entry is priced at £16 per person or £40 for a family of 2 adults and 2 children.
