Derbyshire Falcons v Leicestershire Foxes: Friends Life t20 Preview

DurstonDerbyshire’s Twenty20 showdown with Leicestershire at the County Ground – this coming Friday – has taken on a new significance following the recent victory over Nottinghamshire.

Chesney Hughes and Wes Durston wowed a SKY Sports television audience with their aggressive batting versus the Outlaws on Tuesday evening before an accomplished performance in the field secured a crucial 16 run victory.

Derbyshire’s hopes of quarter-final qualification, therefore, remain very much alive ahead of the visit of Leicestershire who have so far won two, lost four and tied one of their seven Friends Life t20 matches.

Albie Morkel has departed for the Caribbean Premier League while Shivnarine Chanderpaul remains doubtful with a hamstring injury.

The Foxes, meanwhile, played out a thrilling tie versus Lancashire after left-arm seamer Robert Taylor (4 for 23) pegged back the Lightning in pursuit of 140 to win, followed by a five wicket defeat at the hands of the Durham Dynamos.

Shakib-Al-Hasan is a man to watch with both bat and ball. The Bangladesh left-arm spinning all-rounder boasts a wealth of experience at the highest level in all forms of the game.

The previous Twenty20 meeting between the two sides ended in a 24-run win for Wayne Madsen’s men at Grace Road as Wes Durston starred with 83 off 62 balls and left-arm spinner David Wainwright did the damage with the ball taking 3 for 24.

Supporters can benefit from discounted prices of £12 adults, £4 juniors and £4 car parking by booking tickets in advance of the day of the game.

Further discounts are available in advance for families of four and groups containing four or more adults.
