Date Posted: 04-02-2010
MCC President to entertain the first Boundary Club of 2010 on Tuesday 16th March.

The first of our 2010 popular lunch time event featuring John Barclay. John is popular and renowned after dinner speaker.
As a cricketer, Barclay was regarded as an outstanding captain, leading Sussex from 1981 up to his retirement in 1986, during a career that brought over 12,000 runs and nearly 500 wickets for the county.
Once mentioned as a possible England captain, Barclay played for Eton aged 14 and made his debut for Sussex just two years later; going on to lead the England Young Cricketers on their tour of the West Indies in 1972.
Since retiring, Barclay has gone on to become a highly respected and influential figure in the game, notably in his role as Director of Cricket and Coaching for the Arundel Castle Cricket Foundation, a charity he continues to support.
Following a successful stint in management that saw him take control of two major England tours, Barclay is currently President of the Cricket Society and remains involved with former club Sussex as Chairman of the Cricket Committee.
He was also recently awarded the prestigious title of President of the MCC in October of last year.
