Former stars return to the County Ground
Date Posted: 01-02-2010
A host of former Derbyshire players contributed to the club’s 140 Years Anniversary DVD by attending an interview day at the County Ground on Friday.
Current Head Coach John Morris, Academy Director Karl Krikken and First Team Coach Andy Brown were joined by former captain Dominic Cork, Ole ‘Stan’ Mortensen as well as Derbyshire legend Derek Morgan.
Also in attendance were Derby Telegraph journalist Gerald Mortimer and Tony Pope, who recounted memories of his father Alf and uncle, George, both of whom played important roles in the club’s history during the 1930s and 1940s; including the Championship winning team of 1936.
Another interview day is set to take place at the end of February, featuring more illustrious players from various eras of the club’s history.
Derbyshire County Cricket Club would still be grateful to receive any images, material or anecdotes that supporters feel would add to the 140 Years Anniversary DVD, especially the pre 1970s era.
