 Profile:

Garry Park joined Derbyshire from Durham at the conclusion of the 2008 season after three seasons with the North-East County.

South African born but English qualified, Park began his career on English shores with Cambridge UCCE before signing for Durham in 2005.

He played 10 first-class matches for Durham, averaging just shy of 40 and scoring a crucial century in the final match of the 2006 LV County Championship season against Yorkshire to preserve their first division status.

Park was then a model of consistency in his debut season for Derbyshire, passing 50 on ten occasions in 16 LV = County Championship matches, including two centuries.

His unbeaten 178 against Kent was a thoroughly entertaining performance and Park also lived up to his reputation as one of the finest fielders in the country throughout the campaign.

Park’s medium pace also played a part in 2009, especially in the Twenty20 Cup where he finished as the club’s top wicket taker with 11 dismissals at an average of 17.72.
